Modem - definition
Modem stands for Modulator and Demodulator. It is a device that helps to connect a computer to a network using a phone line or router or switch. In simple words, a modem is used to send or receive data. A modem converts analog data into digital form when receiving and do the vice versa when sending.
There are three (3) types of modems: a) Cable b) Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) c) Dial-up.
